Education
The Alcester-Hudson School District is a K-12 school that serves the communities of Alcester and Hudson South Dakota. With approximately 450 students, the Alcester-Hudson School District provides a personable learning environment for students. The Alcester-Hudson School district also has a free preschool program with separate classes for three-year-old children and four-year-old children along with a free after-school program for Kindergarten through 6th grade. The after-school program starts right after school and runs until 6 p.m. and includes recess time, snack, crafts, activities, homework assistance, games and more.
Thanks to smaller class sizes (a student to staff ratio of 14 to 1), the Alcester-Hudson teachers are able to provide one-on-one interaction with their students… something that is rare in larger schools.
Home of the Cubs, the Alcester-Hudson School district also boasts an active and successful athletics department. Students in this school strive not only to develop their minds, but their bodies as well.
The Alcester-Hudson School is currently in the process of adding the junior high and high school onto the existing elementary school with expected completion date by the 2019-2020 school year.
